About this place
Choose a familiar whisky, or try a drink with a more personal touch. At Nakano bar PURPLE DOOR, part of the pleasure is deciding what to order. The house-made awamori coffee shochu costs 700 yen, with soy milk as a mixer for an extra 100 yen. Tomoko’s Lemon Sour, made with house-infused lemon liquor, and the unsweetened Kinmiya Lemon Sour are each 600 yen. Add mixed nuts or an assorted snack platter (each 400 yen) if you fancy another drink after dinner.
Whisky options range from Kakubin at 600 yen and Glenfiddich at 800 yen to bottles such as Yoichi and 10-year-old Laphroaig, each priced at 1,200 yen. Start with an easygoing pour, or take your time choosing a favourite.
One reviewer who was new to bars said they enjoyed learning about the drinks from the manager. The bar may also suit anyone dropping in alone or looking for a place to enjoy a solo drink.
